Justice Katamba Inspects Kyanamukaka Court

The Masaka Senior Resident Judge, Hon. Lady Justice Victoria Katamba, on Monday May 30, 2022 leda team of justice stakeholders including Masaka Chief Magistrate, HW Sylvia Nvanungi, on a tour of Kyanamukaka Magistrate Grade One Court.
The Judge went on to hold a meeting with justice actors under their District Chain-linked Committee.
The Resident Magistrate, HW Phillip Nzwebe, in his report stated that the Court is housed in a Sub-county building, with inadequate furniture and space. It was noted that the Magistrate’s chambers are used as the exhibit store, the registry and archives.
From the Court premises, Hon. Lady Justice Katamba was taken on a guided tour of Kyanamukaka Prison, which houses 41 inmates, to understand the conditions at the facility.
She interacted with the inmates who appreciated her visit to the Prison. They equally asked for enlightenment on the community service programme.
The in-charge of the Prison, OC Molly Nandagi, in her brief to the Judge informed her that the facility does not have electricity. That notwithstanding, the prison’s management was commended for maintaining cleanliness and good sanitation.
